St. Louis Cardinals Win World Series

The 2011 National league Champion St. Louis Cardinals win the World Series again. The St. Louis Cardinals have now won 11 World Series titles in franchise history; they are second only to the Yankees’ 27 titles, David Freese became the 2011 World Series most Valuable Players after the end of game 7. His two R.B.I. in the final game gave him 7 in this year series and a record 21 R.B.I. in this year’s playoffs.

This was a historic game; the St. Louis Cardinals become the 19th team in history to win the World Series after trailing 3-2, which is the first since the Angels came back against the Giants in ‘02. This was nearly an improbable win, the Texas Rangers were one out away in game 6 twice. But, the Cardinals came back to win game 6 in dramatic fashion.

The win came with David Freese's tying triple in the 9th innings of Game six, Lance Berkman's tying single in the 10th, and Freese's game winning home run in the 11th innings.

The Texas Rangers have waited fifty one years and still have no World Series titles to show for their efforts. Th2 2011 loss was big. This loss by the Rangers will never be forgotten for the oldest Major League Baseball team seeking a World Series title. This was a back to back loss by the Texas Rangers.

Like the 1986 Red Sox who failed to win due to the notorious Bill Buckner's error, The Rangers are the only other team before in baseball history that had come within one out of a Series title and not brought home a championship.
